Originality and Source Attribution

IRO Journals requires authors to ensure the originality of their submitted manuscripts, including figures and tables. Proper acknowledgment should be given to the work of others. This includes citing publications that significantly influenced the research and obtaining explicit permission from the copyright holder for any reproduced material. Authors are responsible for acquiring any necessary permissions before submitting their manuscript.

Copyright Transfer Agreements

Depending on the chosen publication model (Green Open Access or Gold Open Access), authors will be required to sign and submit specific copyright agreements:

Green Open Access: Authors can make their accepted manuscript publicly available through their institution's website after a period of one-year. They can also share it on their personal website. The manuscript must include a citation to the original published work and link to the DoI generated for the published article.

Gold Open Access: Articles published will have public access to the final published version.

For more details, refer: Open Access Policy

Ethical Citation Practices

IRO Journals is committed to ethical citation practices. Both editors and authors are expected to avoid citation manipulation, which aims to deceptively inflate citation counts. This includes:

  • Excessive self-citation or citation of colleagues' work to boost citation numbers.
  • Citing the submitting journal excessively.
  • Citing sources not fully read or irrelevant to the research.
  • Editors encouraging excessive citation of their own or the journal's work.

COPE provides resources on identifying citation manipulation https://publicationethics.org/sites/default/files/COPE_DD_A4_Citation_Manipulation_Jul19_SCREEN_AW2.pdf and recommends best practices:

  • Cite relevant and impactful research from various sources.
  • Self-citation can be valid in specific cases, like follow-up studies or niche topics. However, editors will review such cases to ensure ethical practices.
  • Articles violating ethical citation practices may be rejected.

If you suspect citation manipulation in any IRO Journals publication, please contact the journal's editor or the publisher.
