Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Publisher’s Statement

As an independent publisher, IRO Journals is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical research and publication practices. This statement is based on the guidelines developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) https://publicationethics.org/guidance/Guidelines Our mission is to publish original research articles that contribute significantly to scientific and technological advancements. We achieve this through fair and ethical procedures in the screening and peer-review process.

Research Misconduct and Malpractice

IRO Journals takes all allegations of scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication, or plagiarism very seriously. In such cases, we will work closely with the editors-in-chief to thoroughly investigate the situation. Based on the findings, we will take appropriate actions to rectify the issue, including:

  • Prompt publication of an erratum to clarify any errors or inconsistencies.
  • Retraction of the entire article in severe cases of misconduct.
Ethical Treatment and Non-Discrimination

IRO Journals is dedicated to create a fair and inclusive environment for all researchers. We do not encourage discrimination based on factors such as age, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability in our publication processes.

Complaints and Appeals

The final decision regarding manuscript acceptance or rejection are made by the editors. Authors who wish to appeal an editorial decision can directly contact the journal. For complaints concerning co-authors, reviewers, or editorial board members, please reach out to the Editor-in-Chief.

Transparency and Communication

IRO Journals strives for transparency throughout the editorial process. Authors will receive clear and timely communication regarding the status of their submissions. We also encourage open communication and collaboration among researchers, editors, and reviewers.

We are committed to continuously reviewing and updating our publication ethics policies to ensure we adhere to the highest standards and best practices in academic publishing.

Post-Publication Retractions and Corrections

IRO Journals is committed to publishing accurate and reliable research. This policy ensures that errors are addressed promptly and transparently, maintaining the integrity of the scientific record.

Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for promptly notifying the journal editor or publisher of any significant errors or inaccuracies discovered in their published work. They should cooperate with the editor to determine the appropriate course of action, which may involve retraction or correction.

Post-Publication Corrections

If authors (or) readers identify incorrect data or other errors in a published manuscript, they should contact the journal editor or publisher at journals@iroglobal.com.

Common reasons for corrections include prominent errors in data, figures, or authorship changes.

In case of corrections, Editors will consult the COPE post-publication critique https://publicationethics.org/sites/default/files/handling-post-publication-critiques-cope-flowchart.pdf to determine the appropriate action. For "early release" articles, corrections may be made directly to the online version. Published articles will receive a formal correction statement attached to the version of record.

Post-Publication Retractions

Retraction of a published manuscript is a serious but necessary step in cases of severe misconduct, such as:

  • Manipulation of research data or figures.
  • Failure to obtain copyright permission for reused material.
  • Unreproducible data.
  • Unethical research, review, or publishing practices.

We strongly condemn the creation and use of fabricated data and rigorously screen manuscripts, if any such arise post-publication, the article will be retracted by following the the COPE flowchart on fabricated data in a published article https://publicationethics.org/resources/flowcharts/clone-what-do-if-you-suspect-fabricated-data

IRO Journals follows COPE's retraction guidelines https://publicationethics.org/retraction-guidelines when considering retractions.

The process involves:

  1. Initial Investigation: The journal's editor investigates the complaint.
  2. Editorial Discussion: The editor discusses the findings with the publisher to determine if retraction is warranted.
  3. Author Communication: All authors are notified of the concern, and transparent communication is maintained throughout the investigation.
  4. Retraction Notice: If retraction is necessary, a formal retraction notice will be published, clearly stating the reason for retraction.

Peer Review Policy

The peer review process of the journal is committed to ensuring that the journal publishes only high-quality, original, and ethically sound research manuscripts, adhering to the principles outlined in COPE's Core Practices https://publicationethics.org/core-practices.

Peer Review Process

The following processes are adopted in the peer-review process of the journal:

Preliminary Manuscript Evaluation

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial evaluation to assess their relevance to the journal's scope, originality of research question, soundness of methodology, and clarity of writing. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected at this stage. All submitted manuscripts will be checked for plagiarism using the CrossCheck ithenticate tool. The articles that are selected form this stage will be further processed and passed on to at least 3 expert reviewers from the same domain.

Double-Blinded Review Process

IRO journals employ a double-blind peer review process, where reviewers' identities are concealed from the authors and vice versa. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise in the relevant field and potential conflicts of interest are declared and managed according to COPE's guidelines https://publicationethics.org/files/Peer%20review%20guidelines.pdf. Authors can expect feedback on the novelty, methodology, results, and overall quality of their manuscript.

Conflicts in Peer Review Process

IRO Journals is committed to ensuring a fair and unbiased peer review process. IRO Journals continuously monitors its review process to ensure adherence to ethical standards and best practices. This includes monitoring reviewer performance and maintaining a reviewer database that considers potential conflicts of interest. We take several steps to mitigate potential conflicts and biases:

Reviewer Selection:
Fraudulent Practices:
  • Discovery of fraudulent peer review practices or author affiliation manipulation will result in the manuscript being rejected, with a clear explanation provided to the authors.
  • Authors who suspect bias or conflicts affecting their manuscript's review can contact the Editor-in-Chief or editorial office to address their concerns and provide additional information.
  • Authors are required to disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that might influence their research findings or interpretations. This includes personal or professional relationships, funding sources (including grant numbers), and any other potential conflicts.

If author(s) or readers(s) suspect a conflict of interest in any published work from IRO Journals, please contact the journal's editor or the publisher at journals@iroglobal.com

Editorial Policy

IRO Journals publishes four issues per year, providing state-of-the-art research updates on emerging scientific and technical challenges in the digital era. We aim to support aspiring researchers by guiding them through the publication process, while adhering to the highest ethical standards. IRO Journals is committed to maintaining the integrity of the research record. Authors are expected to follow ethical research practices as outlined in COPE's Core Practices https://publicationethics.org/core-practices.

Editorial Decisions and Author Communication

The final decision (accept, reject, revise) is made by the Editor-in-Chief, considering the reviewers' recommendations, the overall quality of the manuscript, and its alignment with the journal's aims and scope. This decision-making process adheres to the principles outlined in COPE's Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors https://publicationethics.org/files/Best_Practice.pdf. The Editor's decision is always communicated along with the reviewers' comments (excluding reviewer identities) to ensure transparency. This allows authors to understand the rationale behind the decision and provides valuable feedback for revisions. Revised manuscripts are subject to further review by the original reviewers or additional reviewers as needed.

Confidentiality

IRO Journals maintain strict confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities throughout the peer review process.

Final Announcement

The final opinion of the Journal Editor will be sent along with the expert reviews and recommendations received. In any case, the Journal Editor will make the final decision on the acceptance and rejection of any submitted manuscript.

Complaints and Considerations

This section addresses reconsiderations of editorial decisions and appeals regarding publication ethics. All complaints and considerations are initially handled by the managing editors and editors responsible for submitted articles. Authors who wish to appeal an editorial decision are encouraged to consult COPE's guidelines on appeals to editors https://publicationethics.org/appeals for best practices.

Technical Content Complaints (Rejections):

The Managing Editor or Editor-in-Chief (EiC) will consider appeals on review comments and rejection decisions. This may involve analyzing the appropriateness of the rejection statement or seeking additional reviewer opinions.

Submission Process Appeals:

The Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor will investigate appeals regarding article review times. Authors will receive a response with appropriate feedback, which will also be shared with the editors involved to improve submission handling procedures.

Complaints Regarding Managing Editors:

Complaints against managing editors can be directly communicated to the Editor-in-Chief or forwarded to [email address removed].

Data Disclosure and Transparency:

IRO Journals is committed to transparency in research data. Whenever possible, authors are encouraged to share the underlying data associated with their research, following the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) https://www.goFAIR.org/. Data sharing allows for independent verification of research findings and facilitates further scientific progress.

The specific data sharing policies of IRO Journals may vary depending on the research scope and data type. However, authors should always be transparent about the data and tools used in their research. This may involve providing details about data collection methods, storage locations, and access restrictions.

Falsifying data or images, research findings, or reports constitutes a serious ethical breach, violating the core principles of research integrity.

Editors and reviewers who suspect fabricated data sets in a submitted manuscript should to the COPE flowchart on fabricated data in a submitted manuscript https://publicationethics.org/resources/flowcharts/fabricated-data-in-submitted-manuscript to take necessary action.

Funding Disclosure

Authors are required to disclose all sources of funding, both financial and non-financial, that directly supported the research presented in their manuscript. This includes grants, contracts, equipment donations, or other forms of assistance. Transparency in funding helps readers understand potential conflicts of interest and assess the research's objectivity.

Editorial Code of Conduct

IRO Journals adheres to the high ethical standards outlined in the COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors https://publicationethics.org/files/Best_Practice.pdf. These guidelines provide a framework for editors to handle potential conflicts of interest and ensure fair and unbiased editorial decisions.
